Mobile versions of popular PC and console games such as Call of Duty and Fortnite have paved the way for more developers to bring their games to a mobile audience. The same is expected of World of Warships: Legends. The game, being a popular title from Wargaming's 'World of' series that was released in 2019 on Xbox and Playstation, is being transferred to mobile with cross-platform support.

World of Warships: Legends is a high-octane 9v9 naval combat and tactical shooting game. It has approximately 150 naval fleets and operates on a freemium model. Wargaming has prior mobile game production experience, since they have several mobile games on the market, including World of Tanks and World of Warships: Blitz. Wargaming St Petersburg is working on the console version of World of Warships: Legends. The developer will focus on optimizing the controls for touch screen devices while moving the game to mobile.

"The gaming landscape is constantly changing and mobile, as the fastest growing gaming platform, provides us with enticing opportunities both in terms of attracting new players and providing our console audience new ways to enjoy our game." - Evgeny Shukin, Publishing Director of World of Warships: Legends

The developer's objective is to make the mobile version a method for console users to engage in daily content even when they are unable to play on the console, as well as to attract new players. According to the developers, several gamers sought a means to check on the progress when they were not near their consoles, which is one of the reasons Wargaming opted to create a mobile port. Cross-platform progression will not be available during the testing period, but the creators intend to introduce the capability in the future for smooth integration whenever players choose to engage in naval battle.

iOS 14.8+ is suggested for iPhone 8/iPad Air (2019 3rd Gen) and above. On Android, smartphones running Android version 10 or higher with at least 3 GB RAM are recommended, with the Samsung Galaxy S20 or newer devices providing the best performance. With game optimization, the requirements may be reduced in the future.

Currently, the multiplayer is being beta tested in Canada for Android and a small number of iOS players. The beta testing phase is part of Wargaming's preliminary test, and some elements from the console version will be removed. For the time being, only content from three nations will be available to the user, i.e. commanders, ships, and pioneers from these regions will be playable. The company intends to add additional content as time goes on, and the mobile version will have all of the console's capabilities.
